About Me
I'm Joaquin Iglesias (Joey), originally from Chile. I work as a Senior Content Engineer & OSINT Subject Matter Expert at Hack The Box and co-founded Hacktoria back in 2021.
My day job involves creating OSINT training content, building challenges, and helping people learn investigation techniques. Outside of that, I work on side projects like SockSeed and organize events like OSINT Punk Con.
This website is where I collect my work, share thoughts on OSINT and cybersecurity, and document things I'm working on or learning about.
What I Do
At Hack The Box, I develop OSINT training content and help shape how people learn investigation skills. At Hacktoria, we build free challenges with narrative that combine storytelling with real investigation techniques.
I also build tools like SockSeed (for generating synthetic identities for research), organize free conferences like OSINT Punk Con, and write about OSINT methodologies, ethics, and lessons I've learned along the way. I volunteer as CTF Lead for BSides Newcastle and InfoSecBattleBots.
Everything I share publicly respects professional boundaries and intellectual property. No NDAs violated, no proprietary methods disclosed. Just knowledge sharing within ethical limits.
Background
I started in cybersecurity from Chile and eventually made my way to working with some of the biggest cyber training platforms out there. The path wasn't linear, but I learned that good OSINT work comes down to curiosity, persistence, and a methodical approach.
Most of my work involves teaching others how to investigate, build frameworks, and think analytically about open-source data. I'm passionate about making these skills accessible while keeping ethics at the center of everything.
